Pollok booked a quarter-final tie with Beith next weekend after easing past a lacklustre Clydebank at Holm Park on saturday. Bankies were missing a number of key players but Lok had to do without Stevie Miller and Andy McClay through injury while work commitments saw Stevie Aitchison unable to make the starting line-up, forcing Chris Cruickshank into the heart of defence. Jim Sinnet also took the opportunity to rest in-form striker Davie Turnbull, giving Robert Downs his first start since January. Lok got off to a perfect start by taking the lead with barely 3 minutes played, JOHN SWEENEY pouncing on indecision inside the Bankies area to send the ball beyond Stefan Gonet via a deflection off a Clydebank defender. Lok made it 2-0 in the 8th minute and Sweeney was involved again, on this occasion providing an assist with a mammoth long-throw to the back post that via another deflection found its way to CALUM HARDIE who lashed the ball high past the Bankies keeper. For the next hour or so both sides had attempts at goal, mostly from free-kicks, that didn't really threaten either keeper. There was a bit of a scare for Lok fans when Kris Robertson seemed to injure himself taking a goal kick in the 74th minute, requiring lengthy treatment from the Lok physio, but he hobbled his way through the rest of the game without being tested. Lok made the result a certainty in the 77th minute when DAVIE TURNBULL robbed dithering Bankies stopper Gavin Rushford of possession just short of the centre circle and ran on to drive the ball low past Gonet for the third. | |||
