EXTERNAL SITES) A free-kick from Gary Wilson caused early problems for the visiting defence, with Roberto Morris having to touch the ball behind for a Pollok corner. At the other end Barry McNaughton drove over from 30-yards out after six minutes, and one minute later Darren Scott forced a fine save from Kris Robertson with a low 20-yard strike. Alan Waddell fired over from the edge of the penalty area after ten minutes, but four minutes later he played his part in the opening goal of the game. Waddell's defence-splitting pass allowed PAUL HYSLOP to take the ball in his stride, and he clipped the ball home with the outside of his right boot. In reply McNaughton headed over for Tayport, while for Pollok Zander Ryan shot over after Robert Downs had cleverly chested the ball into his path. Pollok came close to a second ten minutes before half-time when Ryan's corner was headed on by Downs to Chris Cruickshank, but his fierce strike was kept out by a fabulous reaction stop from David Currie in the Tayport goal. Raymond Logan replaced Davie Turnbull early in the second half for Pollok as the visiting side began to gain the initiative. Scott burst clear on the right for 'Port, and only some good back-tracking by Miller prevented his low cross from reaching Kelly. Murray Urquhart spurned a glorious chance to level matters after 59 minutes when he picked up possession in acres of space at the halfway line. He advanced towards Robertson, but rather than take the ball around the 'keeper he tried an audacious chip from 30-yards out, only to see the ball sail high over the crossbar. Three minutes later a McAllister corner was headed towards goal by Morris, with team-mate Ronnie Kenneth diverting the ball en route, only for Robertson to make an outstanding save. Bryan Dingwall was introduced to the action in the 65th minute, and he took less than thirty seconds to make an impact. He battled with Morris to get to a Robertson goal-kick first, and Currie could only parry his shot to ROBERT DOWNS, who stroked the ball into the net. Tayport reduced the deficit just two minutes later when Robertson rushed from his area to attempt a clearance, only for the ball to ricochet behind him. Kenneth nodded it into the path of CHRIS WEBSTER, who had the easiest of chances to mark his 50th Tayport appearance with a goal as he rolled the ball into an unguarded net. 'Port could have been level shortly afterwards, but McAllister's weak shot was held by Robertson. Dingwall then chipped the ball narrowly over from a tight angle after a good turn inside the box before a late challenge by McNaughton on Wilson that sparked angry exchanges between the sides, resulting in three yellow cards from referee Neil Watters. 'Lok sealed the game with just three minutes left to play when Brian McKeown's crossfield ball found BRYAN DINGWALL behind the 'Port defence, and he fired past Currie for Pollok's third. The icing on the cake arrived with seconds remaining of normal time when substitute BRIAN MACKAY latched onto a through ball from McKeown and coolly slotted beyond Currie to finish the scoring. While a three-goal winning margin certainly flattered Pollok, they will feel that over the two games they had done just enough to merit their place in the draw for the next round of the competition. Pollok:
Robertson, Miller, Wilson, Aitchison, Cruickshank, McKeown, Ryan, Turnbull (Logan
53), Waddell (Dingwall 65), Downs, Hyslop (Mackay 81). Not used: Heaton, Tyler. | |||

TO DAILYMOTION HIGHLIGHTS (PFC TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTENT ON EXTERNAL
SITES) Pollok registered the first shot on goal after eight minutes when the ball broke from Brian Mackay into the path of Waddell, but his shot on the turn was pushed away by David Currie. At the other end Murray Urquhart fired just wide from 18 yards out, while Kris Robertson made his first save of the game after 19 minutes when he gathered a low effort from 'Port debutant Darren Scott. The hosts took the lead five minutes later when Ross Gunnion's throw-in was flicked on at the near post by Ronnie Kenneth, and BARRY McNAUGHTON slid the ball into the net. McNaughton was nearly in again 60 seconds later, but Gary Wilson just denied him with an excellent covering header. Brian McKeown had a goalbound drive blocked before 'Lok found an equaliser after 28 minutes. Joe Carruth and McKeown helped to feed the ball through to Robert Downs, who shot low towards the goal. Strike partner ALAN WADDELL thrust his left leg at the ball, diverting it over the head of 'keeper Currie and into the net. Waddell had a chance to give Pollok the lead after an exquisitely played pass from Downs, but this time he lashed his effort wide of the post. McNaughton had another strike on goal for Tayport before the break, but again it was Wilson who took up a good position to volley the danger clear. 'Lok should have been ahead within 30 seconds of the restart when a long ball over the top beat the Tayport offside trap, but Waddell could only lob the ball over the target with just Currie to beat. It was to be his last involvement in the game as he limped off to be replaced by Raymond Logan. Zander Ryan found himself clear of the 'Port defence after 57 minutes, but he dallied over his shot and allowed Roberto Morris to slide in and concede a corner, from which Downs headed wide. Ryan again found himself with a terrific chance ten minutes later. Downs did superbly well to hold the ball up and allow support to arrive in the form of McKeown. He delivered a perfectly weighted ball to Ryan, who advanced on Currie, only to shoot into the side-netting. Ryan turned provider after 76 minutes when his cross to the back post found Logan, but his header passed agonisingly beyond the goal. With 11 minutes left to play McNaughton had another attempt for the Tayside team, but this time he shot over from 25 yards. Tayport's best chance to win the tie arrived with just seven minutes left on the clock when some hesitant Pollok defending presented substitute Kevin Kelly with a sight of goal. He sliced his shot off target however, and so the game finished all-square. The two sides will now meet again at Newlandsfield Park on Saturday, with the reward for the winners being a place in the last sixteen of the national cup competition. Tayport:
Currie, G Paterson, Wemyss, Juskowiak, Maher (Kelly 68), Kenneth, Morris, McNaughton
