Ian Wilson
Congratulations to Kilsyth Rangers for their win over Lok at Newlandsfield in the Evening Times Cup 2nd round. .
Pollok never really got started in this one, something that was disappointing for everyone at the club.

The visitors however made a perfect start when MICHAEL HUGHES punished terrible Lok defending in 3 minutes when he spun and shot past Wilson, but Lok equalised in 26 minutes when PAUL MCNEILL fired home after fine play from Hamilton and Mark McWilliams.

half-time: Pollok 1 Kilsyth Rangers 1

Kilsyth's winner came in 56 minutes when O'Neil made a balls-up in defence and DAVID CAMPBELL fired the ball at Wilson who could only help it into the net.

Double for Drew
Pollok began their quest for the Evening Times Cup Winners Cup with a game at home to tournament debutantes Cumnock at Newlandsfield this evening with two new signings in the 16.
Lok boss Ronnie Lowrie has swiftly taken advantage of the transfer window reopening, so Martin Nelson joins from Maryhill while left-sided former Neilston man Gary Sturrock made his debut in the second half.

Cumnock went ahead with a swift counter-attack in the 10th minute. Davie White crossed the ball into the penalty area and CHRIS KELLY volleyed the ball past Ian Wilson from 12 yards out. Pollok's response was both quick and slightly fortuitous when the ref gave a soft penalty award in favour of David Hamilton a minute or so later that DREW MCWILLIAMS converted.

Pollok edged ahead on the half-hour after a good advantage. A 'Nock defender tried to hack down McNeill but he carried on regardless and centred the ball for DREW MCWILLIAMS whose wayward swipe cannoned past Connolly via his left-hand upright.

The football on show in the second half was not particularly special, and the game became increasingly niggly. Lok found a third in the 53rd minute after a nasty challenge won the home side a free-kick in the centre-circle. Play switched quickly to the left where McPhee's low cross was met by a grateful PAUL MCNEILL who netted from close range for his 25th goal of the season, a staggering eight of which have been against Cumnock! we've only played them three times...

Lok now face Kilsyth Rangers in what should be an intriguing tie. Big cheer in the social club for St Anthony's 1-0 win over Arthurlie that sets up the McKenna Park team for a semi at either Larkhall or Glenafton. Credit also to the fans for coming out tonight, official crowd of 548 is better than some of our saturday games.
