A welcome return!
The 300 or so at Lochburn Park witnessed a tense affair that came to life in the second half.
Pollok had a fair few early chances, almost all passed up by the unusually profligate Drew McWilliams but they did go ahead two minutes before the break when McNeill's cutback found RAYMOND LOGAN and his low angled shot beat McCondichie in the 'Hill goal.

Steve Campbell was red-carded by George Drummond ten minutes after the restart for an elbow on Jimmy McPhee though the reduced numbers did not prevent them levelling the score through former Linlithgow Rose and Benburb midfielder JOHN TINNEY in 67 minutes.

A fairytale Lok ending was hinted at though when comeback midfielder MARK MCWILLIAMS, in his first appearance since being injured in 25 minutes at Keanie Park last May, drilled a low left-footer from 25 yards into McCondichie's bottom left corner with 14 minutes left.

Pollok gifted GORDON YOUNG an equaliser in 85 minutes and a 2-2 draw seemed the likely outcome - but for RAYMOND LOGAN popping up to head the winner in with a minute left. Tempers frayed in stoppage time and ex-Clyde favourite Andy McClay picked up a second yellow card leaving the home side with nine men. Pollok's normally good form at Lochburn continues and the title bid is still very much alive.

Scorer Drew
From the very start a pattern emerged in this vital league game. Kilbirnie playing some good football and being toothless up front and Pollok relying on the quick break and long ball and creating the better goal scoring chances.
Kilbirnie had on one shot on target in the first 45 minute when Gordon hit a powerful shot from just outside the box straight at Wilson who saved comfortably.

Pollok created a string of chances which forced fine saves out of keeper Heafey. Paul McNeill, Jimmy McPhee and Martin Nelson all saw their shots form outside the box well saved. The closest thing to a goal came when Paul McNeill's skilful run ended with a cross was cleared off the line by Neil Shearer and just went wide.

There was also what I thought were clear penalties for both sides. Drew McWilliams had has shirt pulled in the box as he tried to get on the end of a McNeill cross and Kilbirnie's right back O'Malley went on a great run only to be sandwiched between McPhee and Fabiani. On both occasions the referee was let down by his assistants who should had great views of the offences and should have awarded the penalties.

On the stroke of half time both teams came close to scoring. A vicious shot from outside the box by Tamburini flew just past the post with Ian Wilson rooted to the spot and well beaten. Then McWilliams had a great effort hit the outside of the post and Hamilton perhaps should have done better than hit the rebound into the side netting.

More of the same followed in the second half with some good football on show. Pollok were on the back foot in the early stages as Kilbirnie kept possession well. Pollok managed to take the lead in the 54th minute with a goal that had quite a considerable amount of luck about it. DREW MCWILLIAMS showed great skill to beat his man on the edge of the box and his shot took a deflection off of Hendren and hit the inside of the post and spun all the way across the goal line and into the opposite corner of the net.

Jimmy McPhee then came close to a adding a second minutes later only to see his flashing header denied by a top class save from Heafey. Ladeside however got a deserved equaliser in the 70th minute. A good free kick from out wide on the left was headed powerfully into the net by the excellent NEIL SHEARER with the Lok defence posted missing.

Pollok continued to create good chances with sub David Watt twice forcing good saves from Heafey and also shooting just wide. Fabiani also had a good shot that deflected wide of target. Ladeside still played the better football but ran out of ideas near goal and this was best illustrated when Tamburini went on a great run beating three men and with Pacitti backing away in the box instead of shooting he opted to pass the ball.

Near the death, Kilbirnie wasted a great chance to win the game. The Pollok defence ran out and a ball over the top found three Ladeside players running through. Miller opted for a chipped shot that Ian Wilson saved comfortably.

A draw pretty much a fair result. Both teams contributed to a reasonable game. Kilbirnie looked a good side and should finish pretty high up the league table and brought a good noisy support who added a great atmosphere to the ground. Pollok will have to play a lot better in the last two league games of the season.
