13th March 2008: Potential Lanark travel problems The Lok website has been advised that there are roadworks at the Raith Interchange causing delays so travellers may be better served taking the M8 to Newhouse then travelling south through Newmains and Carluke. 12th March 2008: McGarvey quits Lok After only one competitive game, Martin McGarvey has returned to Beith, citing personal reasons. In other news, Pollok have drawn Arthurlie at Newlandsfield in the 3rd Round of the West of Scotland Cup. 6th March 2008: Jimmy Duncan MBE passes away
In other news, Ian Wilson has decided to bring his playing career to an end. He had featured as a trialist for Arthurlie earlier in the season but reached the conclusion that he could no longer play on. 12th February 2008: Lok sign Martin McGarvey
12th February 2008: Directions to Ballingry Rovers Those supporters who made the trip through to Lochore last season will be retracing their steps for this one. Ballingry Rovers, who are in their 4th season as Juniors after stepping up from Amateur football, have a ground that is actually not in the village of Ballingry. It is 800 yards or so north of Lochgelly, and can be found on the left hand side of the road, between Lochgelly and Crosshill, in tiny Glencraig. Recommended directions to Fife are M8, then signs for Forth Road Bridge (toll abolished) then M90 to Dunfermline, A92, B9149 to Lochgelly, over roundabout, left at next roundabout, into Lochgelly, right at next roundabout, follow road out of Lochgelly. 8th February 2008: Tyler checks out of Newlandsfield Pollok can today announce the sale of 27-year-old forward James Tyler to Kilwinning Rangers after just under 4 months with the club. James only made six sub appearances in the 14 games Lok played in that time, though a car accident before Christmas made it harder for him to attend training as he lives in the Irvine area. His sole Lok goal came from the spot at The Meadows, against Ellon United. All at the club wish him well with his new team. 13th January 2008: Henderson leaves Pollok (updated 26/1/08) Good luck to Robbie Henderson in his future career after he left Newlandsfield on a free transfer. Robbie had failed to establish himself in the Lok side since joining in August and found himself third choice for the central defensive position. He played a trial for Berwick Rangers but will not be signed by them and is a free agent. 8th December 2007: Available for transfer: Mark Booth 27-yar-old defensive midfielder Mark Booth has been made available for transfer. 4th December 2007: Message to supporters from the Football Club Some supporters may be aware of the unofficial Pollok FC Messageboard. In light of a number of recent heavily critical and occasionally personal posts made about Pollok players and management, both match secretary George Paterson and team manager Rab Sneddon have asked for the opportunity to remind supporters that they can take up the chance to speak either of them, 1 to 1, about any grievances in terms of team selection and tactics. Both are generally more available to talk to supporters after games in the social club, as pre-match tends to be a busy time for both. C'mon the lok now. 4th December 2007: Ian Wilson released Ian Wilson has been released by Pollok after five and a half years with the club. 34-year-old Ian was a very popular figure around the club and I'm sure everyone wishes him well for the future. Ian hopes to find a new club and will be guaranteed a warm welcome from Lok fans when he next returns to the club. 30th October 2007: Away to Ellon The Junior Cup 2nd Round Ellon United game is scheduled to kick off at 2pm on the 10th of November, and will be refereed by North Region whistler Alastair Mather, a Category 2 official. You can learn more about Ellon United here: http://nonleaguescotland.co.uk/ 23rd October 2007: The Montrose game The referee for Saturday's game between Montrose and Pollok might be familiar to the travelling support - he was refereeing in the West Region last season! The man in the middle is Stevie McLean, brother of Motherwell midfielder Brian. The last time he reffed Lok was in the Evening Times Cup game at Clydebank. The full appointments can be found at The SFA Website. Ahead of the Montrose
game, supporters might be interested to know that a local pub called the Black
Abbott is openly welcoming visiting supporters. I am informed there will be food
laid on. It can be found on Coronation Way, at the town's northern end. Links Park itself can be found a few hundred yards back from the seafront, on the right of this image. If segregation is in place, away supporters are given half of the main stand (which holds 1400) as well as the two sides of the ground that are usually unused. Home supporters tend to use the shed behind the West End goal. Beneath the map are a few images of Links Park, including two from their official website of its recent redevelopment, the laying of artificial turf.
23rd October 2007: Queen's Park XI 2 Pollok 0 Lok took advantage of the new fieldturf at Lesser Hampden in order to get in a bit more practice ahead of Saturday's trip to Links Park. The vast expanses of Lesser Hampden's pitch are unlike anything in Junior football and hopefully not too much like the Links Park surface! Queens fielded a side largely made up of U19s (including Ray Montgomerie) and a select few members of the 1st team squad, while Lok's selection was dictated by availability issues to such a degree that Bryan Dingwall played the second half on the right wing. Raymond Logan's appearance in the No 8 jersey must have surprised a few Lok fans, the big man having returned to the club late last week after an 8 month hiatus. Paul Cairney fired the Spiders ahead midway through the second half and young sub Ian Smith drilled home a second late on. QP:
Zander Cowie, Alan Harty, Shaun Molloy, Andy Boslem, Jamie Brough, Alex Donnelly
(sub 83 for McKeever), Ray Montgomerie, Paul Cairney (sub 65 for Ross Dunlop),
Munro (sub 65 for Ian Smith), Stuart McGrady (sub 65 for Watt), David Waters (sub
85 for Barry Douglas). 12th October 2007: Lok in a Tiz as Tyler signs Pollok have signed James 'Tiz' Tyler from Saltcoats Victoria as Rab Sneddon looks to strength the ranks upfront with Davie Turnbull having been sidelined for the timebeing with a virus. Lok fans might remember James netting against us in the 2-1 Junior Cup win over Irvine Meadow XI last season and he has all the assets to prove a real handful in the West Super Premier Division. He was with Meadow for a season and had a season with Ardeer Thistle prior to that. The Stevenston side had netted James, who is 26, from the Ayrshire Amateurs where he had played with Girdle Toll and Newmilns Vesuvius among others. The player himself spoke to local paper the Irvine Herald in July about his disappointment of a move to Lok not coming off, the result of which was what became a brief three month stint with Saltcoats. People might think Im showing a lack of ambition by taking this easy transfer but nothing would have pleased me more than to have the opportunity to play for a club of Polloks stature. They are one of the best junior sides in Scotland but it was made clear to me that Irvine Meadow were going to be reluctant sellers to one of their biggest rivals and would only sanction me moving to Glasgow as a last resort. Saltcoats is the right move for me at this time. I feel comfortable working for Alan Black. Pollok boss Rab Sneddon has promised to keep tabs on me and Saltcoats are aware of that so its an arrangement that suits everyone. I'm sure Rab is delighted to have finally got his man. 2nd October 2007: The Road To Hampden is via Montrose! The draw for the Second Round if the Scotish Association Cup was made at Annan Athletic today and has thrown up a very tricky tie for the Lok, an away trip to Third Division high-flyers Montrose. Date for ties is Saturday 27th October. Whitehill Welfare
v Golspie Sutherland 23rd September 2007: St Cuthbert Wanderers game Pollok head for Kirkcudbright next weekend and the arrangements are as follows: Kick
off: 3pm Police are insisting on the gates being closed at 3pm. The place to be pre-game is the Gordon House Hotel. Buses maybe best advised to drop passengers off then head to the ground. It is not far to walk. For more on St. Cuthbert Wanderers, including directions, go to the South of Scotland section of the Non-League Directory. 1st September 2007 Joe McAlpine has been released by the club after only one competitive sub appearance. Pollok FC wish him well in his future career. 31st August 2007: Hello Hizzy, Farewell Fergie The latest Newlandsfield Park recruit is 28-year-old right midfielder Paul Hyslop who joins the club from Ayr United. Paul began his career with Ardrossan Winton Rovers before enjoying a lengthy stint at Auchinleck Talbot that was interrupted for a number of months by a nasty knee injury. Once fit, Paul won a move to Ayr United where he remained for two seasons, though he spent the end of 2006-07 on loan at Kilwinning Rangers. Hizzy had trials with Talbot and the Buffs in the summer before signing for Lok. Rab Sneddon says of his latest signing: "Paul comes to us with good experience at this level and has a good engine. He'll provide competition on the right side of the park as that's an area we were lacking options, apart from Zander Ryan who has the No 7 jersey just now." One player leaving however is Craig Ferguson who has been released after only one competitive sub appearance for the club. Pollok wish him well in his future career. 30th August 2007: Lok heading for a Scottish Cup Wander Pollok have been drawn away to South of Scotland League side St. Cuthbert Wanderers in the Scottish Cup 1st Round draw. The Kirkcudbright side, who play in blue and white hooped shirts a la Kilwinning Rangers, have won five of their eight games to date this season, losing the other three. Their home ground is called St. Mary's Park. This week they have appointed former Creetown boss Jim McCrossan as their new manager. Fellow Juniors Linlithgow will be in the same neck of the woods after drawing Neil Hyslop's Newton Stewart. Culter entertain Hawick Royal Albert while SFA members Girvan are at home to Forres Mechanics. First Round draw: (with last season's finishing places) Brora Rangers (12th Scottish Highland League) v Cove Rangers (6th Scottish Highland League) Golspie Sutherland (1st North Caledonian League) v Preston Athletic (6th East of Scotland Premier Division) Coldstream (2nd East of Scotland Division One) v Dalbeattie Star (1st East of Scotland Division One) Glasgow University (4th Caledonian Amateur League Divisdion One) v Buckie Thistle (3rd Scottish Highland League) Wigtown

Robbie, 24, has Senior experience at a number of clubs and , especially in the light of Derek Heaton (broken arm) joining Stevie Aitchison on the sidelines, is a welcome addition to the defensive pool. 23rd July 2007: Exclusive New Signings Gallery Kathryn MacLeod caught up with Pollok's four new signings at training tonight and has sent in the following photographs.
21st July 2007: Welcome to Newlandsfield Craig Ferguson The addition of tall midfielder Craig Ferguson boosts the Pollok squad by one ahead of Saturday's opening friendly against Bo'ness United. Craig is 23 and joins from Maryhill having prior to that played a couple of seasons at Stirling Albion. He is described as being a very strong midfielder who likes to run at defenders, and also has a strong shot. 18th July 2007: A third new face wings his way into Newlandsfield Pollok's historical entry into the senior Scottish Cup in the Autumn has forced Pollok into having to bring in two outfield players under 21 years old to comply with the rules of that competition, as every matchday squad must have at least that. The first to be signed is 19-year-old wide player (either side) Brian Mackay who signs from St. Mirren. The talented youngster, who made a sub appearance for the Buddies in the SPL but was one of 4 players released in April, previously played with Livingston and Partick Thistle. Welcome aboard Brian! 14th July 2007: Lok Land McAlpine Somewhat belatedly, the Lok website can confirm last weekend's signing of 25-year-old left sided player Joe McAlpine from Stranraer. Joe began his career with Everton before spells with Stirling Albion, Airdrieonians and Queen of the South then Raith Rovers who he was playing with when he was involved in a severe car accident in October 2004 that left him with a fractured skull, collarbone and broken ribs, as well as almost a year later earning him the nickname 'Porridge' at Stenhousemuir. He then moved on to Forfar Athletic for a brief spell before signing with Stenhousemuir in August 2005. Early on in the 2006-07 season Joe moved to Stranraer from where he joins Lok. Welcome to the club Joe! 3rd July 2007: Opening Fixtures Confirmed Pollok will kick off their pre-season programme with a trip through to the Lothians to take on Bo'ness United on Saturday 28th July. Thereafter will follow home games against Alloa Athletic and Camelon before we head South to take on East of Scotland League champions Annan Athletic at the newly refurbished 400 seater Galabank. Lok's first competitive game will be on Wednesday 8th August at home to Benburb. We have drawn Renfrew in the West of Scotland Cup, a game that will take place in October. Saturday 28th July: Bo'ness
United (A) (2.30pm) Wednesday
8th August: Benburb (H) (7pm) Saturday 20th October: Renfrew (A) (West of Scotland Cup 1st Round) The Tennents Scottish Cup 1st Round (all non-league) takes place on Saturday 29th September with the 1st Round of the Junior Cup kicking off on Saturday 6th October. Lok could yet get byes in both. The West Super Premier League kicks off again on Saturday 1st September, with the quarter finals of the Sectional Cup falling on Wednesday 29th August, with the semis on Wednesday 5th September. 19th June 2007: Ross departs for a Highland fling Ross O'Donoghue joins Derek Gardiner (Rutherglen Glencairn) and Simon Black in leaving Newlandsfield this summer. Ross has agreed to join Elgin City and all at Newlandsfield wish him well with his future career. Elgin boss Robbie Williamson told the local paper a few weeks ago: "We've given him an opportunity to come to Elgin and try to ressurrect his career." 8th June 2007: Lok land McKeown
As with every other player bar one, he moved on in the summer of 2006, in his case to Auchinleck Talbot. That move didn't work out though and Brian joined up with Beith early in the New Year. Position-wise, Brian is a versatile player who can play on the right or left, in either defence, at sweeper or in midfield where he can also play the 'holding' role. The Lok squad for next season is now shaping up, with confirmed departures being Simon Black and Derek Gardiner. Both have been linked with other clubs but are still officially Lok players. Apart from Gardiner and Black, the majority of the squad have re-signed. Any further departures (or arrivals) will be announced in due course. 2nd June 2007: Squad update A brief word with Rab Sneddon prior to the Clydebank game confirmed that the vast majority of the Lok squad have signed up again for 2007-08. Exceptions are Simon Black and Derek Gardiner who have been put on the transfer list at their own request. Junior clubs cannot register players for 2007-08 until after June 16th. There will hopefully be new signings over the summer and they too will be announced at some point beyond that date. Any departures requiring confirmation will be reported at the appropriate time. Newspaper speculation must be treated as such until confirmation of rumours appears on the Pollok FC Official Website. 30th April 2007: Bryan Dingwall is Player of the Year 2006-07 Pollok forward Bryan Dingwall, 31, was voted Player of the Season by the club's members this evening. Congratulations Bryan! The placings were as follows: 1.
BRYAN DINGWALL 12th April 2007: Three called up for Junior Scotland Three Pollok players have been called up to Jim O'Donnell's Junior Scotland representative squad for the friendly with the Republic of Ireland on 28th April. They are Robert Downs, Bryan Dingwall and Joe Carruth. The full squad is: Allan
Fleming - Kelty Hearts 5th April 2007: McClay injury blow / Lok lost at Stenny A scan on Andy McClay's knee, which he injured catching his studs on Saturday, has diagnosed a torn cruciate ligament. It is devastating news for the 34-year-old Lok star. All at the club wish him well on his recovery. On other matters, a fairly makeshift Lok side played a Stenhousemuir XI on Tuesday night at Ochilview (click here for full report and pictures), losing 5-3. Bryan Dingwall played the bulk of the second half and looked very lively. The Lok goals came from Alan Waddell, Zander Ryan and trialist Kyle McCallum. 19th March 2007: Squad Update Pollok boss Rab Sneddon is able to clarify for supporters the situation regarding two of our squad members. Firstly, top scorer Bryan Dingwall has been sidelined with a groin strain for the past few games, and is still a couple of weeks away from fitness. Meanwhile, midfield man Raymond Logan is on continued leave of absence/permitted time away from the club, and if there is an update to that situation you'll read it first here. 10th March 2007: Scottish Junior Cup 6th Round - Linlithgow Rose spotlight For the second round in a row, Lok have been given a tough away tie and will head to Linlithgow Rose's Prestonfield on Saturday to face the East Superleague leaders. Lok's last visit was in 2003 when we contested the SJFA Supercup Final, and ran out 3-1 winners that day. Here is the current Rose squad: Manager: Jim Sinnet (47) Goalkeepers Defenders Midfielders Forwards The Linlithgow Bowling Club are offering hosptiality to any fans: "As keen Rose Fans during this Scottish Cup Campaign we at Linlithgow Bowling Club have been fortunate on our travels to receive generous hospitality from whichever team/venue we have visited. Now playing this round at home we are keen to extend the same Hospitality to the fans/followers of Pollok on Saturday the 10th of March 2007 - the facilities of Linlithgow Bowling Club would be available both prior and after the match for a Cheap Pre/Post Match Drink. We are ideally situated just off Linlithgow High Street to the rear of the West Port Hotel (Ample car parking facilities) and are only 500 yards from Prestonfield Park itself so nice and handy for the game. If any Lok followers would like to take advantage of a Free Pie and Cheap Drink you would be more than Welcome. Obviously if we could get an idea of numbers this would allow us to cater for our guests. If anybody wishes to take up this offer I would be delighted to hear from them either via a phonecall or an email and the contact details would be as follows: h20wdh@Blueyonder.co.uk or davidggray@lycos.co.uk alternatively they can phone Linlithgow Bowling Club on 01506 844376 during the following times and leave details and numbers etc Wednesday
7.30pm - Midnight 5th February 2007: Scottish Junior Cup 5th Round - lowdown on Irvine Meadow Lok travel to Meadow Park to face the West Region Division One leaders Irvine Meadow XI in what should prove to be a very tough fixture. Irvine Meadow XI Squad 2006-07 Goalkeeper Midfield Directions to Meadow Park, Irvine From north (A78(T)): Leave A78 at Eglinton Interchange and take signposts towards Irvine town centre. After taking first left at Raeburn roundabout, continue straight down Kilwinning Road, past Irvine Royal Academy on right until a small roundabout is reached. Take the first exit (East Road) and immediately after this, turn left again into Quarry Road. Take the second left into Wilson Avenue thereafter, and Meadow Park can be found at the end of this street. 20th December 2006: Transfer update Pollok can confirm the signing of young attacking midfielder David McGeown, 22, who was most recently with Alloa Athletic and had been training with Lok for a few weeks. He made his debut as a trialist against Cumnock and looked very lively. Leaving the club is Anton Franchetti, 23, and all wish him well with his future career. As you may have noticed, Ashfield's appeal against Kinnoull from the Scottish Cup was rejected, so Pollok will be playing the Perth side at Newlandsfield on 13th January 2007. 3rd December 2006: Richie Newall signs for Pollok 28-year-old Richie Newall has joined Pollok from Irvine Meadow XI for a nominal fee. Richie is a cultured left-footed midfielder who will will hopefully prove to be a key member of the Lok side in the seasons ahead. He has previously played for Ayr United, Benburb, Partick Thistle, Glenafton and Meadow. 12th November 2006: Scottish Cup 3rd Round Draw Pollok have been drawn away to Central District Division One side Port Glasgow in the 3rd Round of the Scottish Junior Cup. The draw kept all the top sides apart, the only tie that seemed worth talking about was Ayrshire District side Kilbirnie Ladeside v West 1st Division heavyweights Irvine Meadow XI in a North Ayrshire derby. Port Glasgow play at Ravenscraig Stadium in Greenock, a ground Pollok visited in 2004 when Greenock Juniors were our opponents in a West of Scotland Cup quarter-final. Let's hope we get a better result than that day. Having won their last four games in a row and having accounted for Cumnock in the 2nd Round, the 5th placed side will be tough opponents. 7th November 2006: Scottish Cup 3rd Round Draw The 3rd Round Draw of the Scottish Junior Cup will be held at the Pollok FC Social Club on Sunday 12th November - all are welcome! ANyone coming, get down for 12.30pm. 3rd November 2006: Directions to Lochore 1.

to Lochgelly (Lochgelly Road). Follow the road into Lochgelly, up Main Street
then follow road left into Bank Street. Drive to edge of village, under railway
bridge and after a few miles pass Ballingry Rovers JFC on left. Half a mile or
so into the next built up area, set well back from the road on the left, is Central
Park, home of Lochore Welfare FC. 31st October 2006: Pubs in Crosshill The only pub in Crosshill is called the Benarty Tavern, and they are Lochore Welfare's sponsors. It's 100 yards up the road from the ground. If that's not your bag, you'll have to go to the next village north (which is called Lochore) where there's a pub, a miner's social club and a bookies. 27th October 2006: Lok land Mark Booth Pollok today completed the signing of midfielder Mark Booth from Elgin City. The 26-year-old had recently joined the Fire & Rescue Service and had found training with the Borough Briggs side difficult. Booth, 26, began his career on the books of Airdrieonians before transferring to Livingston. He then spent a bit of time at Cumbernauld United before returning to the Senior ranks with Albion Rovers and was a first team regular at Cliftonhill for two seasons. Two seasons in the first team with 2nd Division Stenhousemuir was followed by one at Forfar Athletic during which he was loaned to Shotts for 3 months, then after that he transferred to Elgin City in the summer of 2005. All in all, he made almost 200 Senior appearances in seven seasons. 26th October 2006: Paterson goes This evening Pollok released Derek Paterson after just over two seasons at Newlandsfield. He leaves the club with the best wishes of all concerned. UPDATE 31/10/06: Paterson signed for Lakrhall Thistle. 19th October 2006: Buckley is away Richie Buckley has signed for Troon and all at Pollok wish him well. 13th October 2006: Tinney departs Pollok would like to wish John Tinney luck in his future career at Irvine Meadow XI after he joined them this week. He had made two appearances already for Meadow as a trialist, the latter at left back. 8th October 2006: Away cup tie for Lok Pollok will travel through to Fife for their Scottish Junior Cup 2nd Round against Lochore Welfare. The Fife side, who play in the East Region Central District League (which used to be the Fife League) are from the village of Crosshill. Their website is at http://www.lochore.org.uk Meanwhile, John Tinney turned out for Irvine Meadow as a trialist left back on Saturday. 5th October 2006: Lok squad thins down Retained ex-Lok keeper Kevin Budinauckas, clubless since being released by Stranraer in August, has signed for Armadale Thistle. Additionally, young Lok forward Alain Kinney has been transferred to Neilston until the end of the season. Although no formal agreement exists in Junior football to loan players, there is an agreement between the two clubs and the player however that he will revert back to Lok at the beginning of next season. 27th September 2006: Lanark United 2 Pollok 1 Pollok lost 2-1 to Lanark United in a friendly on Tuesday night. Kathryn MacLeod sends in some snaps.
20th September 2006: Essler in Lok Quit Shock Pollok Football Club can announce this evening that Andy Essler has been made available for transfer at his own request. Interested parties should contact manager Rab Sneddon at their earliest convenience. In other news, the friendly versus Sauchie has been postponed. And finally, there has been interest in listed players John Tinney and Richey Buckley who are of course free to find themselves new clubs. If anything is confirmed, PollokNet will have the latest. 15th September 2006: Logan's Run... Back to Us. Pollok
Football Club are delighted to announce the return of Raymond Logan to the club
from Ayr United. The March 2002 capture from Linlithgow Rose was a great crowd
favourite and turned in many fine shifts in the black and white of Pollok during
his first spell at the club in which he appeared 98 times and scored 34 goals.
3rd September 2006: Calling All Members of the 1981 Scottish Cup-Winning side Former Lok player and coach Alex McVake has been in touch to ask: If anyone is still in contact with some members of the 1981 Scottish Cup winning squad (Stuart Auld, John Towie and Alec McLaughlin) could you please pass on the following message Former Pollok Coach, Tommy Young, is having a double celebration on Saturday 16th September to mark his 60th birthday and the 25th anniversary of our first Scottish Cup triumph in 1981. Hes managed to contact most of the squad, with the exception of the players above and hed love to see them there. It will be held at Ledgowan Hall, Shinskine Drive in Summerston on Saturday 16th September from 7.30 p.m. Tommy can be contacted on 0141 946 4503. 29th August 2006: Currie's off 25-year-old midfielder Ross Currie has signed for Johnstone Burgh. All at Newlandsfield wish him well with his future career. 27th August 2006: Franchetti signs but Rowan's away Pollok have signed 22-year-old left midfielder Anton Franchetti after a successful spell on trial. Anton played with Bellshill Athletic from 2003 until April 2005 when he broke his leg, but has been training at Lok for an number of months now. Departing though is Craig Rowan who has joined Kilsyth Rangers. 22nd August 2006: Highland Fling for Lok Pollok
have a home tie in the 1st Round of the Scottish Junior Cup, and our opponents
will be New Elgin of the North Region. They have been consistently high achievers
in the bottom division of the North Region, winners for two successive seasons,
but cannot achieve promotion out because of their current facilities. Their recent
Scottish Junior Cup record is as follows: 15th August 2006: Derek Gardiner added to pool Pollok signed up their 20th player of the 2006-07 season on Saturday when 32-year-old central defender Derek Gardiner joined the club. Previously with Rutherglen Glencairn, East Stirling, Larkhall Thistle and Cumnock, he is an experienced and composed player who had a trial period at Newlandsfield in July 2005 cut short by injury. Retained goalkeeper Kevin Budinauckas has signed for Stranraer. 26th July 2006: New keeper signs up Kris Robertson's understudy will be experienced Junior goalkeeper Craig Rowan. The 29-year-old has experience with a variety of clubs including Bellshill Athletic and Shotts Bon Accord. Departing is Willie Stewart who has signed for Kilsyth Rangers. 16th July 2006: Keevsy checks out Another confirmed departure from Newlandsfield is Motherwell-based Mark McKeever (31), who has joined local club Shotts Bon Accord. Mark was a popular player at Newlandsfield and I'm sure all supporters wish him well. There is not much else to report at present, but the club are working hard to increase the squad in number by bringing in a couple of new players, one of whom is likely to be a goalkeeper. The latest addition was Ross O'Donoghue who was a non-contract signing last season, though was injured before making his debut. 30th June 2006: Fixtures are out Pollok's fixtures up until September are now known and can be found in full at http://www.scottish-juniors.co.uk Wednesday
26th July (Friendly): Largs Thistle v Pollok, 7.15pm k/o £5, £2.50 29th June 2006: Farewell to Frankie Frankie Haggarty has signed for Renfrew after 2 years with Pollok. The Pollok FC website wishes him well at his new club. 26th June 2006: New Signings Photocall Kathryn MacLeod managed to grab five of the new signings this evening (Monday) before training and snapped them in their new colours. Robert Downs is currently on honeymoon.
26th June 2006: Farewell to Friels Pollok fans will no doubt be sad to see Gavin Friels depart for Ayr United after two very productive seasons with Pollok. In 75 appearances for Lok, Friels netted 57 goals while pciking up 11 bookings and 2 red cards. He was a fantastic player for Pollok and all at the club wish him well. News story from the Ayr United official website. 25th June 2006: News update After weeks of speculation, the date has finally arrived when Junior clubs can sign players from each other. Lok boss Rab Sneddon has had an unbelievably busy schedule since the season wound down in May, but time has been well-spent building a squad for the 2006-07 campaign. Five players come in from arch-rivals Arthurlie. They are Kris Robertson, Zander Ryan, Gary Wilson, Robert Downs and Alan Waddell. Dealing
with each in turn, Kris Robertson is a 23-year-old goalkeeper who began
his career with a scholarship at Queen's Park Rangers. He left Loftus Road without
having made the first team in 2001 to sign for hometown team Zander Ryan is a 26-year-old right-sided defender/midfielder who has proved a real thorn in the side of Lok over the years. Signed by Kilmarnock in 1995 from Highbury B.C. as a 16-year-old, he spent two seasons with the Rugby Park side before dropping into the Juniors with Baillieston. He then moved on to Johnstone Burgh and two years with the Keanie Park side was followed up with four at Arthurlie. Robert Downs is no stranger to Pollok supporters. He was one of the few bright spots of the 1998-99 season for Lok as an energetic 19-year-old and the follow-up season secured him a move Senior with Hamilton Academical. Injuries hampered him however and after only 9 league appearances he was back at Lok on a delayed transfer. That move didn't work out though and when he was released by Accies at the end of the season, he signed for Arthurlie where he remained for four seasons. Dave Baikie then took him to Cowdenbeath in the summer of 2005 but his departure from Central Park soon after left Robert's future in the dark. He scored Cowden's 5000th ever goal before being struck down by injury and when he was released in January 2006, he agreed to go back to Dunterlie until the end of the season after having promised Frank Lynch he would do so if released. Now 27 years old, Robert finds himself back at Newlandsfield. Alan Waddell, also 27, is a forward who began his career with St. Peter's Juveniles before joining Neilston in 2001. In 2003 he went Senior with Hamilton Academical but left after 5 appearances to sign for Arthurlie in early 2004. Gary Wilson, of an age with Ryan, Downs and Waddell, started his Junior career in the Ayrshire Juniors with Beith before moving on to Neilston. The left-sided player spent just over 2 seasons at Brig-O-Lea before signing for Arthurlie in 2004. A Junior Scotland internationalist, he had been linked with a move Senior at the start of last season. The other
Lok signing is Bryan Dingwall, a 30-year-old striker who has had a long
association with Rab Sneddon. It was Rab who brought 'Dingy' into Junior football
back in 1997 with Shotts Bon Accord, but in early 1998 he was transferred to Lanark
United. Rab and Bryan re-united at Bellshill Athletic in 2000 and the talismanic
forward remained there for three seasons before switching to Maryhill, again under
Rab Sneddon towards the start of the 2003-04 season. Three very successful seasons
at Lochburn Park, netting over 100 goals in that time, made him headline news
and despite keen interest from a number of clubs, Lok are delighted he agreed
to move to Newlandsfield. Rab Sneddon has also been able to confirm to the Pollok website that John Tinney and Ross Currie have not been offered re-signing terms for the new season. Any development with either player will be reported here. 20th June 2006: Available for transfer Pollok boss Rab Sneddon was able to confirm three players who remain available for transfer at Newlandsfield this summer, and they are Kevin Budinauckas, Frankie Haggarty and Willie Stewart. There is keen interest already in Frankie and he may well seal a move to a West Region Premier club in the coming days. And as all supporters by now know, Monday 19th June was the first day that Junior players could be registered at the SFA. However, that date was not automatically when players would be signed. At this
moment in time, Pollok FC are in negotiations with a number of players and the
club will announce any concluded deals as soon as it can. This is likely to be
into the weekend at the earliest. 11th June 2006: Turnbull signs On Thursday night, David Turnbull joined Pollok under freedom of contract from Stirling Albion. The burly forward made a big impression on Lok fans last season while playing on a Delayed Transfer from Stirling and he is a welcome addition to the side. Fixtures news now, and Pollok kick off their pre-season programme with a game at Barrfields Park, Largs on Wednesday 26th July against Largs Thistle. We then have home games against Queen's Park (the Strollers a.k.a. 2nd XI) at Newlandsfield on the 29th of July) and an Alloa Athletic XI on the 31st before a midweek trip to Whitburn on the 2nd of August. The Sectional League Cup campaign gets underway at Tinto Park against Benburb on Saturday 5th August. We have games against Arthurlie (a), St. Anthony's (h) and Neilston (h) to follow that. 8th June 2006: Close season update Since the last update, Alan Colquhoun has agreed a switch to Cumbernauld United. Lok can confirm they have Stevie Aitchison, Simon Black, Alain Kinney, Andy McClay, Derek Heaton, Stevie Miller, Chris Cruickshank, Joe Carruth, Derek Paterson and Andy Essler all signed up for 2005-06. 31st May 2006: Close season update Despite rumours on the terracing and in the press, Rab Sneddon will be Pollok manager for season 2006-07 and he has begun to shape his squad for the forthcoming season (although at the time of writing there's still football to be played in the West Region!). Ten existing players are already onboard for the new campaign, while Allan Colquhoun will become a fully signed-up Lok player, despite having been on the scene since February, to make it eleven. Negotiations continue with other 2005-06 players, while in mid-June Lok will be free to make signings from other clubs, so stay tuned for further information. The only confirmed pre-season friendly so far is a home game against Alloa Athletic on Monday 31st July. It is possible that the Sectional Cup will get underway two days later. 26th March 2006: Stewart listed as O'Donoghue signs Right winger Willie Stewart has been made available for transfer with immediate effect but his place in the squad has been taken by skilful 23-year-old midfielder Ross O'Donoghue. Ross made 11 first team appearances in all competitions for Aberdeen between 2000 and 2003 before moving on to Junior sides Cumbernauld United and Bellshill Athletic, though he has not played since last season. 13th March 2006: Another Lok goalkeeping headache solved Supporters may have wondered where keeper Robert Burns has been lately. The veteran keeper, who recently celebrated his 43rd birthday, has effectively left the club after the arrival of Kevin Budinauckas - though remains on Pollok's books as a signed player for 2005-06. In his absence, Rab Sneddon has moved to bring in cover for new No. 1 'Bud' by bringing on board 35-year-old free agent and former Junior Scotland Internationalist Alan Colquhoun for the remaining league games. Alan was Rab's keeper at Shotts Bon Accord where he won the Central Premier League in 1998-99. After many years at Shotts, he moved on to Forth Wanderers, Lesmahagow, Dunipace, Cambuslang Rangers and East Kilbride Thistle. Alan's move to Pollok has been slightly hampered by the FIFA transfer window as he was attached to East Kilbride at the point of the window closing in January therefore cannot sign for another club until June, unless he is reinstated Amateur. As he is unattached following his release from EK Thistle, he can be listed for league games as a trialist. Unsigned players cannot appear in cup ties however. 6th March 2006: Lok Clinch Buckley Deal Pollok have signed 21-year-old right-sided midfielder Richie Buckley until the end of the season. Richie has played three times for Lok already after being reinstated from Ayr United, and prior to his spell with the Honest Men was part of Aberdeen FC's first team in the latter days of Steve Paterson. 27th February 2006: Honours Board and Presidents Board The committee room in Pollok FC's pavilion has been greatly enhanced this week by the donation of two boards. One displays the names of past presidents of Pollok FC, and the other shows the club's honours. Below are some photographs taken by Kathryn MacLeod of the unveiling.
3rd February 2006: Departed McLauchlan replaced by hot prospect Pollok's latest signing is a 20-year-old forward from Saltcoats Victoria, Alain Kinney. He is regarded as a real prospect and was interesting a number of Senior clubs before opting to join the Stagecoach Premier League champions. Only in his first season as a Junior, Alain was with crack amateurs Giffnock North previously. 31st January 2006: Two more leave Newlandsfield Popular forward Martin McLauchlan checked out of the Newlandsfield home dressing room for the final time this week as he sealed a move to Maryhill. The veteran striker, 36, has originally joined Lok from Neilston in 2003 and netted 35 goals in 92 appearances, at the same time setting up countless others for his strike partners. The Maryhill website reports he's being joined by ex-Lok skipper Kevin O'Neil at Lochburn Park. Another departure is Bryan Smith who had asked for a transfer after failing to establish himself in the side. The 25-year-old had only signed in July from Arthurlie and moves on to Kilwinning Rangers. Best of luck to both players in their future careers. 29th January 2006: Stephen Miller signs from Maryhill
Martin Nelson however has moved on to Neilston and all at Pollok wish him well at his new club. 22nd January 2006: Loan Signing Dave Turnbull 25-year-old Dave Turnbull joins Pollok on loan until the end of the season from Stirling Albion. He was one of a number of players that stepped up to the Senior ranks with Neil Watt from Maryhill to Stranraer in 2003 and at over 6 feet tall will add a real physical presence to the Lok attack. 14th January 2006: Bud comes aboard Kevin Budinauckas is the latest player to jump aboard
at Pollok. The 31-year-old has played at a number of clubs and will give the club
the option of two goalkeepers again following the loss of Ian Wilson. 13th January 2006: Pollok make new signing After the departure of John McAulay to East Kilbride Thistle earlier in the week, Lok added Ayr United's Andy Essler to the pool on Thursday night. The 29 year old, who can play anywhere on the left side, was retained by Maryhill after leaving Lochburn Park for United in the summer. He was primary played at left-back by Robert Connor but only made 3 starts in the league as well as a couple of sub appearances and 3 cup tie starts. As Andy arrives, Peter Jordan sets off for pastures new after signing for Johnstone Burgh. The 24-year-old fullback in all made 27 appearances for Lok, and scored a fine but solitary goal in a cup tie versus Bonnyrigg in 2002. I'm sure all at Lok will wish him well. | ||||||||||||||||||||
